I am a novice when it comes to cooking scallops. Does anyone in lj land have any experience with cooking them? Do you have any recipes/advice to offer this novice? Thanks!

Considering how much I like to eat scallops I should figure out how to cook 'em. I have no idea.

I'm partial to them either wrapped in bacon or sauteed in a butter and garlic sauce. YUM! Sadly, I have no recipes.

If you overcook 'em, they will take on physical qualities not unlike a superball.

I like them almost raw in the middle. So I heat up a pan and make it as hot as possible, throw in a bit of oil, and sauté them for about 40 seconds or so on each side.

Yes - be weary of overcooking them....but otherwise quite easy.

Get a really hot pan. Sear the sides until golden. About 2 to 3 minutes a side. Once they start splitting they're done and become white.

Or you can broil them for about 4 minutes aside.

I usually get them about 1 1/2 to 2 inches in size.

The favorite thing to do with them is wrap in bacon if you're going to broil them. Think like a filet mignon.
