Daylight savings happens this weekend. Don't forget to set your clocks forward 1 hour on Saturday before bed/Sunday. And, don't forget to check the batteries in your smoke detector.

"A last minute card and flowers from the garage just will not do for Tim West on Valentine's Day. He has been sending his wife Claire a personal photo card to say "I love you" for the past 10 years."

The accountant in me wanted to share this bit of info with you.

"Isakson’s amendment would provide a direct tax credit of $15,000, or 10 percent of the purchase price, whichever is less, to any homebuyer. Purchases must be made within one year of the legislation’s enactment, and the tax credit would not have to be repaid."

"On Tuesday, the Senate approved another amendment that provides a tax incentive for car buyers. The amendment, introduced by Barbara Mikulski, D-Md., makes interest payments on car loans and state sales or excise tax deductible for new cars purchased between Nov. 12, 2008 and Dec. 31, 2009."

What is your go-to cookbook? Something that you use for both the recipes & referencing. Would you recommend it to a novice cook?

Thanks to all who gave their input on cooking scallops. Your advice/tips worked their magic. My scallop experiment of 2008 was a success. I ended up cooking them in a hot skillet with a little butter, shallots, & garlic. They were teh yummy. :)

The one drawback about camping in the woods in funny clothes is that everything must be washed once you get home. It only took doing laundry for four evenings in row, but I am officially done with my Pennsic clean up. Woot! *pats self on back*

I have a 10am appointment to donate blood today. By 10:20am I will have fainted from giving said blood. By 10:40am I will be walking back to work fully recovered from my fainting spell & feeling good about myself for donating blood.

I am able to donate today because Inova's bloodmobile will be parked across the street from my office building. http://inova.org/blood_donor/index.jsp
